A prototype to conceptualize the idea that brought in strategic partners, early adopters and helped raise US $579,217 through crowd funding .
CONTEXT
The prototype was meant to achieve the following;
1. Visualize the solution help pitch to angel investors and early adopters.
2. Test the desirability of such a product with a pre-sale. - Are people willing to pay for this ?
3. Learn and better understand the problem, get feedback to incorporate into the full scale product.
4. Better understand the infrastructure & operations system required to support the product
MY ROLE
I worked on the project as the lead designer and product manager. That meant not only designing the product from idea to a developed product.
The MVP was designed and build in a period of 3 months, This included;
KEY FLOWS

Authenticate user

Trigger legal assistance

Record interaction for documentation
IMPACT
As on Dec 2024, The company has;
Raised $579,217 through a crowdfunding campaign on startengine.com and currently has 7,000 paying and active users.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM
There is a Mutual mistrust between law enforcement officers and the public often that often leads to negative and sometimes deadly encounters.
Furthermore,
In the US there is a lack of readily accessible legal assistance on demand to mediate between the public and law enforcement in these critical situations.
Attorney Shield aims to address this issue. The objective is to rapidly demonstrating their solution to key stakeholders prior to the development of the platform.

SCOPE
To quickly ship an MVP that will help the founders concepuatlize their ideas, the scope of the project was specific.
WHAT DID THIS MEAN?
The founders had already done an impressive job on conducting the market research and customer discovery. So immediately after the brief shared through a PRD I was able to quickly start working on the designs.

The main screen emphasized one clear CTA: “Request Assistance.”
No clutter. No secondary distractions.
In high-stress environments, simplicity equals safety.

We introduced a discreet PIN-based call termination system to prevent accidental or forced call disconnection.
This balanced user safety with product integrity.

Due to limited funding, we had to:
1. Prioritize essential flows only
2. Avoid overengineering
3. Ship quickly to test desirability
This required disciplined decision-making rather than feature ambition.
DESIGN PROCESS
Followed the below steps in the design phase:
DESK RESEARCH

The average time to get legal assistance on demand in the US varies depending on the type of legal assistance needed and the location of the person seeking assistance. For example, the average time to get a public defender in a criminal case is about 2 weeks, while the average time to get a lawyer to represent someone in a civil case can be much longer, sometimes up to a year or more.

POST LAUNCH
The team having done alot of research and customer validation, the market was quite receptive to the extent that the company was able to initiate a pre-sale campaign aimed at helping raise the money to build the fully fledged product.
Even though we thought we had hacked the process, We quicly learnt that we needed to rethink
These changes were fused into the new app designs.
